Start-up cash required to realise LRIT
Article Abstract:
The International Mobile Satellite Organization needs at least 2.2 million euros to complete a global long-range identification and tracking system (LRIT), but funding for the system has not been resolved. Shipping companies are interested in benefits brought about by the LRIT but are not funding the system. Contracting governments are likely to debate over funding sources.

The rescue of 42 immigrants on board a boat trying to make it to a Spanish territory is presented. Lessons learned from the incident are listed.
