All change: the CRSS headquarters is intended to empower people

Article Abstract:

CRSS Architects Inc converted a former spec office building located in the West Loopof Houston, TX, into its corporate headquarters. Redesign consisted of expanding the building core to accomodate kitchens, coffee bars, supply rooms and other facilities. The plan centered on a grid ceiling pattern which was carried all throughout and which served as the core for the floor and wall designs. CRSS designed the offices following the open areas concept, but modified to allow for small coves to provide privacy when required.

In the club

Article Abstract:

Upscale fashion boutique Polo-Ralph Lauren was refurbished to capture the prevailing corporate culture while providing a work environment conducive to creative and commercial pursuits. The project was handled by the design firm Shelton, Mindel and Asso who recreated the elegance of the boutique in a townhouse style atmosphere rendered in sterile architectural style. The changes called for higher ceilings, vertical organization of club-like workspaces that allowed interaction between people in the organization.

Down to basics

Article Abstract:

Roundtable Press commissioned design firm HughesGroup to redesign its Manhattan, NY, offices at a limited budget. Hughes designers prepared an austere package based on the principle of maximizing space use. Roundtable executive offices were positioned along an arched window wall and separated with a partition to create private areas. The angled glass which was used to separate the executive offices from the general areas added to the illusion of space and allowed the passage of natural light.
