Richard Bennett, an African-American furniture designer, sculptor and artist from Detroit, Michigan, uses African symbols and masks from various tribes to give an ethnic atmosphere. He makes use of materials like glass, steel, wood and aluminum to design stools, chairs and lamps, combining his talents as a sculptor and a designer. Pool cool

Article Abstract:

The management of the Shark Club in Costa Mesa, CA, decided to renovate the lone room which persisted in being a dead space despite the club's crowded attendance. They contracted the Hatch Design Group to liven up the area to attract clients to make use of it. The result is the Metropolis Room which presents a neo-Baroque interior and a theatrically moody ambience. The sparsely-furnished interior features custom designed furnitures, a bar and lighting fixtures that enhance the room's out-of-date atmosphere.

Design studio

Article Abstract:

Architect Cass Calder Smith attempted to recreate the atmosphere of an Italian city square for the studio of graphic designer Michael Osborne. Smith clustered the workstations near windows to have a full view of the garden, while the private offices, storage areas and conference space were conceptualized as buildings around the square. The conference area is demarcated by 12-foot high walls. Lighting fixtures evoking streetlamps were designed specifically for the office.
