Of mastery and mediocrity

Article Abstract:

The design profession essentially reflects the characteristics and needs of a society. The work of a handful of so-called design masters who are published is only part of the discipline, which reflects the work of all who have designed everything individuals have ever lived/worked in. An era's design success is based on the breadth of high competence collectively exhibited by its designers. One should worry about the broad institutionalization and acceptance of mediocre design that appears to be espoused by many large business entities today.

Be seen to be green

Company environmental programmes address issues including their own water and energy consumption and waste management, but companies are also checking the environmental credentials of their suppliers.
