Illegitimacy and television

Article Abstract:

TV viewing is contributing to the serious dimensions of illegitimacy in the United States. The situation is compounded as TV assumes a dominant role in the socialization process. The high sexual content of TV programs and their psychological impacts are increasingly shaping sexual values and behavior of young people. The industry needs to exercise collective restraint in the broadcast of sexually explicit programs. The rating system and v-chip will enable parents to monitor TV programs and wean the young away from early sexual activity.

Nine-Month Miracle

Article Abstract:

The 'Nine-Month Miracle' CD-ROM helps both adults and children learn about human reproduction. The software is recommended for use in the classroom or home. The vast amount of information also requires children to be guided by adults. However, the software fails to comprehensively cover the topic of sexual anatomy. Intercourse is presented using backlit figures while only dual-parent, heterosexual families are portrayed.
