A conserved MYB transcription factor involved in phosphate starvation signaling both in vascular plants and in unicellular algae

Article Abstract:

A conserved MYB transcription factor is discussed relative to phosphate (Pi) starvation signaling in vascular plants and in one-cell algae. An EMS-mutagenized M(sub.2) population of an Arabidopsis thaliana transgenic line with a reporter gene responsive specifically to Pi starvation was prepared, then screened for mutants changed in Pi starvation regulation. PhR1 was shown to encode a transcription factor related to the PHOSPHORUS STARVATION RESPONSE 1 (PSR1) protein from Chlamydomonas reinhardtii.

Nuclear events in ethylene signaling: a transcriptional cascade mediated by ETHYLENE-INSENSITIVE3 and ETHYLENE-RESPONSE-FACTOR1

Article Abstract:

Ethylene gas is a plant hormone in Arabidopsis that initiates a transcriptional regulation progression during which the nuclear proteins EIN3 (ETHYLENE-INSENSITIVE3) and ERF1 (ETHYLENE-RESPONSE-FACTOR1) function sequentially. EIN3 and EILs (EIN3-Like proteins) are members of a family of DNA-binding proteins that bind directly to a primary ethylene response element to regulate gene expression. ERF1 is the immediate target of EIN3.

Arabidopsis COP10 forms a complex with DDB1 and DET1 in vivo and enhances the activity of ubiquitin conjugating enzymes

Article Abstract:

COP10 that interacts with ubiquitin-conjugating enzymes (E2s) in vivo, and can enhance their activity in vitro is demonstrated. It is shown that COP10 forms a complex with UV-damaged DNA-binding protein 1a (DDB1a) and de-ethiolated 1 (DET1), and physically interacts with COP1 and the CSN.
