The PHANTASTICA gene encodes a MYB transcription factor involved in growth and dorsoventrality of lateral organs in Antirrhinum

Article Abstract:

The activities of PHANTASTICA (PHAN) gene are required in the dorsoventrality of leaves, bracts and petal lobes of Antirrhinum majus while the PHAN mutants are necessary in the earlier elaboration of the plant's proximodistal axis. Relationship between PHAN dependent dorsal cell identity and the flattening of leaf blades exists. Thus, PHAN gene is needed in the lateral organ development of plants such as Antirrhinum majus.

Apoptotic cells induce migration of phagocytes via caspase-3-mediated release of a lipid attraction signal

Article Abstract:

Results show that apoptotic cells secrete a chemotactic signal, which attracts monocytic cells and primary macrophages in a caspase-3-dependent manner. Data indicate that the chemotactic signal molecule is the phospholipid lysophosphatidyl choline and the involvement of phospholipase A(sub)2 in the caspase-3-mediated generation of the phospholipid.

Signaling cell fate in plant meristems: three clubs on one tousle

Article Abstract:

This review addresses the underlying mechanism of coordination exhibited by the meristem cells in the development of aerial parts of higher plants. Data reveal that pivotal to the process are stem cells, the regulation of which is controlled by WUS and CLV genes. The role of receptor molecules and phytohormones is discussed.
