Cdc13 deliveres separate complexes to the telomere for end protection and replication

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the telomere binding protein Cdc13 in Saccharomyces cerevisiae which mediates replication of telomere via recruiting telomerase. The fusion of the DNA binding domain of Cdc13 to the Stn1 protein has been carried out in investigating the delivery of this protein to the telomere and the results indicate that this delivery rescues the lethality of the cdc13 null strain and provides end protection.

Switching and signaling at the telomere

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the protective DNA-protein complexes at the eukaryotic chromosomal ends, telomeres. The purpose of this review is to discuss the molecular mechanisms involved in the telomere functions and the cellular responses to compromising the telomere and telomerase functions.

Telomerase maintains telomere structure in normal human cells

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on telomerase and telomere structure. The authors suggest that this structure is dynamically regulated in normal human cells, and that it is unlikely that telomere length alone can trigger the entry into replicative senescence.
