Degradation and mineralization of high-molecular-weight polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons by defined fungal-bacterial cocultures

Article Abstract:

The biodegradation of high-molecular-weight polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) can be enhanced by inoculating them with fungal-bacterial co-cultures. These PAHs are often hard to remove in most bioremediation systems.

Effects of alkylphosphates and nitrous oxide on microbial degradation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons

Article Abstract:

The use of gaseous nitrogen and phosphorus during bioremediation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in soil may be of limited value. Gaseous distribution of nitrogen and phosphorus was proposed because the subsurface injection of liquid nutrients can lead to excessive microbial growth.

One-electron oxidation in the degradation of creosote polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons by Phanerochaete chrysosporium

Article Abstract:

The reaction mechanisms of the non-lignin peroxidase-liable polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) degradation in the Phanerochaete chrysosporium and manganese peroxidase-lipid peroxidation systems, reveal the vanishing of 12 three-to six-ring PAHS present in the system. The in vivo and in vitro disappearance of PAHs is dependent on the ionization potential.
