Menin interacts with the AP1 transcription factor JunD and represses JunD-activated transcription

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the interaction between menin and the JunD transcription factor. Anti-menin polyclonal antibodies were produced against synthetic peptides. Experimental results indicated that menin repressed transcriptional activation mediated by JunD. Findings also showed that menin's tumor suppressor function correlates with a direct binding to JunD and inhibition of JunD activated transcription.

An SDF-1 trap for myeloid cells stimulates angiogenesis

Article Abstract:

The role of hematopoietic cells in the formation of new blood vessels is examined. They reveal that organ-specific expression of vascular endothelial growth factor is sufficient to mobilize the recruit hematopoietic cells from the bone marrow to the blood, but retention of the proangiogenic subpopulation of hematopoietic cells in peripheral organs requires an additional factor, stromal-derived factor 1 (SDF-1).

JunD reduces tumor angiogenesis by protecting cells from oxidative stress

Article Abstract:

A study shows that JunD, a member of the AP-1 family of transcription factors, reduces tumor angiogenesis by limiting Ras-mediated production of ROS (reactive oxygen species). The study uncovers the mechanism by which JunD protects cells from oxidative stress and exerts an antiangiogenic effect.
