Nanomolar levels of dimethylsulfoniopropionate, dimethylsulfonioacetate, and glycine betaine are sufficient to confer osmoprotection to Escherichia coli

Article Abstract:

The osmoprotective effect of two osmoporters in E. coli is discussed. At nanomolar concentrations of dimethylsulfoniopropionate, dimethylsulfonioacetate, and glycine betaine, only E. coli with the ProU high-affinity osmoporter were protected from high salinity. Strains with the low-affinity ProP osmoporter were not protected.

Potential of three-way randomly amplified polymorphic DNA analysis as a typing method for twelve Salmonella serotypes

Article Abstract:

Research is conducted on the method for typing twelve Salmonella enterica serotypes based on the three-way randomly amplified polymorphic DNA analysis. A large number of organisms, optimized PCR conditions and three selected primers are analyzed.

Osmotic stress-induced genetic rearrangements in Escherichia coli H10407 detected by randomly amplified polymorphic DNA analysis

Article Abstract:

Osmotic or oligotrophic stress can cause different banding profiles during randomly amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis of E. coli H10407. Some cells can reorganize many parts of the genome within one or two generations.
