PkwA, a WD-repeat protein, is expressed in spore-derived mycelium of Thermomonospora curvata and phosphorylation of its WD domain could act as a molecular switch

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on WD-repeat proteins discovered in eukaryotes. The authors describe the expression of WD-repeat protein PkwA in thermophilic actinomycete Thermomonospora curvata CCM3352, and demonstrate that this expression is limited to spore-derived growth exponential phase and that the protein's WD domain can undergo phophorylation in the presence of T. curvata membrane fractions.

Molecular characterization of the mycobacterial SenX3-RegX3 two-component system: evidence for autoregulation

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on environmental regulation of bacterial gene expression. The authors report the overproduction of RegX3 response regulator and SenX3 hidtidine kinase's cytoplasmic portion from Mycobacterium bovis BCG in Escherichia coli, and demonstrate that the cytoplasmic portion of SenX3 can autophosphorylate and that the phosphate group is then transferred onto RegX3.

Regulation of cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 (COX1) expression in Cryptococcus neoformans by temperature and host environment

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on Cryptococcus neoformans. The authors report that during their study of differential gene expression of this bacterium they have identified a serotype A strain.
