Purification of cytochrome P450 and ferredoxin, involved in bisphenol A degradation, from Sphingomonas sp. strain AO1

Article Abstract:

The purification and characterization of cytochrome P450, ferredoxin and ferredoxin reductase from Sphingomonas sp. strain AO1 and also the role of these enzymes in bisphenol A (BPA) degradation are described. The results have demonstrated that the cytochrome P450 monooxygenase system in bacteria is involved in BPA degradation.

Mode of bacterial action of silver zeolite and its comparison with that of silver nitrate

Article Abstract:

Results demonstrate the bactericidal action of silver zeolite via transfer of silver ion to the bacterial cell and the generation of reactive oxygen species that kills the bacteria. Data indicate that silver zeolite resembles silver nitrate in its bactericidal properties.?

Degradation pathway of bisphenol A: does ipso substitution apply to phenols containing a quaternary [alpha]-carbon structure in the para position

Article Abstract:

A new degradation pathway of the bisphenol A was investigated. Results concluded that the degradation of bisphenol A is initiated by monooxygenase that may also lead to ipso substitution in other xenobiotics containing phenol with a quaternary [alpha]-carbon.
