RNA polymerase clamps down

Article Abstract:

Efficient synthesis of long messenger RNAs encounters difficulties during gene expression due to pausing, arrest, and termination activities of transcription complex structures. Research reveals that transcription regulation is mediated by elongation/antitermination factors stabilizing RNA polymerase-nucleic acid interactions, that allows RNA polymerase to ignore pausing, arrest, and termination signals.

RNAi as random degradative PCR: siRNA primers convert mRNA into dsRNAs that are degraded to generate new siRNAs

Article Abstract:

Research shows that the short interfering RNAs mediate RNAi synthesis and serve as primers for the transformation of the target mRNA into double-stranded RNA. During the cycle of double-stranded RNA synthesis and degradation, the nascent double-stranded RNA is degraded generating short interfering RNAs.

Ubiquitous transcriptional pausing is independent of RNA polymerase backtracking

Article Abstract:

Research reveal that majority of the transcriptional pauses are brief lasting 1-6 seconds at 21 centigrade with less likely of pausing any specific position on a DNA template. Data point out that these transcrptional pauses are due to structural rearrangement within the enzyme.
