Serial changes in blood pressure from childhood into young adulthood for females in relation to body mass index and maturational age

Article Abstract:

Serial changes in blood pressure have been studied for females, childhood to young-adult years. The data have been related to maturational age and body mass index (BMI). Early-menarche females have been found to have a significantly greater mean value BMI than those with late menarche. Systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) levels 1 standard deviation above mean at age 9 gives an odds ratio of 2 for SBP and DBP above national 75th percentile levels at age 21.

Decanalization of weight and stature during childhood and adolescence

Article Abstract:

Weight and stature are common indicators of the normality of growth for individuals and groups by comparison with reference data from such sources as the US National Center for Health Statistics growth charts. A study was conducted to evaluate the association between probability of decanalization in stature and weight and the rate of skeletal maturation in children and adolescents.
