The TetR family of transcriptional repressors

Article Abstract:

An overview on the TetR family, a family of transcriptional regulators that is well represented and widely distributed among bacteria with an HTH DNA-binding motif, is presented. Members of the TetR family of repressors are identified by profile, which can be easily used to recognize TetR family members in SWISS-PROT and TrEMBL and in all available proteins from prokaryotic genome sequences.

AraC/XylS family of transcriptional regulators

Article Abstract:

Searches for homology amongst protein sequences can identify families of related proteins. The AraC/XylS family of regulators is a common positive regulator and is distinguished by an amino acid sequence homology stretching over a 100-residue span, comprising the DNA biding domain of family members. Their regulatory functions include carbon metabolism, pathogenesis and stress response.
