Impact of biocontrol Pseudomonas fluorescens CHA0 and a genetically modified derivative on the diversity of culturable fungi in the cucumber rhizosphere

Article Abstract:

The biological control agent Pseudomonas fluorescens CHA0 does not have an appreciable adverse effect on the biodiversity of non-target soil fungi. This organism is used to protect cucumber from several pathogens, such as Pythium spp.

The sigma factor AlgU controls exopolysaccharide production and tolerance towards dessication and osmotic stress in the biocontrol agent Pseudomonas fluorescens CHA0

Article Abstract:

The sigma factor AlgU of Pseudomonas fluorescens CHA0 appears to protect the bacterium from osmotic and desiccation stress but not from oxidative or heat stress. This bacterium is used as a biocontrol agent of soil fungi.

Impact on arbuscular mycorrhiza formation of Pseudomonas strains used as inoculants for biocontrol of soil-borne fungal plant pathogens

Article Abstract:

The impact of Pseudomonas strains on the arbuscular mycorrhizal formation associations by Glomus mosseae when used as inoculants for biological control of soil-borne fungal plant pathogens was investigated. The effects of the antimicrobial metabolite 2,4-diacetylphloroglucinol (DAPG) on arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal spore germination and mycelial growth were also examined. Results showed that certain Pseudomonas strains that produce DAPG and that are used as biocontrol agents had no adverse effects on Glomus mosseae.
