Vitamin D discovery outpaces FDA decision making

Article Abstract:

Research findings that extensive use of vitamin D as a food supplement provides only short-term advantage, while future generations are likely to suffer from an epidemic expansion of obesity and chronic diseases are presented. It is suggested that the role of vitamin D must be reexamined by the FDA and its recommendation to expand addition of Vitamin D to foods must be curtailed.

A walk from the wild side: The genetics of domestication of livestock and crops

Article Abstract:

The major issues such as the genetic changes that were selected for during domestication and the information that genetics provides about the history of domestication, were discussed. The Genetics Society Autumn Meeting brought together many researchers on livestock and crop domestication and provided an exciting list of recent progress in the field.

Got milk? a pheromonal message for newborn rabbits

Article Abstract:

This article discusses the feeding habits of rabbit pups, how they communicate their need and whom they go to. Research reveals 2-methylbut-2-enal is present in rabbit milk which acts like a pheromone. Data indicate that pups respond to pheromone odor from mothers across strains and breeds, but not from closely related species.
