p27(super Kip1) independently promotes neuronal differentiation and migration in the cerebral cortex

Article Abstract:

Study is conducted to show that cyclin-dependent kinase p27(super Kip1) promotes neuronal differentiation by stabilizing Neurogenin2 protein, an activity carried by the N-terminal half of the protein. It also promotes neuronal migration by blocking RhoA signaling, an activity that resides in its C-terminal half. p27(super Kip1) plays a key role in cortical development, acting as a modular protein that independently regulates and couples multiple cellular pathways contributing to neurogenesis.

p27Kip1 modulates cell migration through the regulation of RhoA activation

Article Abstract:

Tumor suppressor p27Kip1 is an inhibitor of cyclin/cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) and plays an important role in cell cycle regulation. p27Kip1 may act as both a tumor suppressor and an onlogene, depending on subcellular localization.

Discovery of an oncogenic activity in [p27.sup.Kip1] that causes stem cell expansion and a multiple tumor phenotype

Article Abstract:

The tumor suppressor activity of [p27.sup.Kip1] is due to its regulatory activity of cyclin-cyclin-dependent kinase(CDK) gene. Its oncogenic activity that causes the expansion of stem cell in vivo is discovered.
