Will Big Mac find new sizzle in shoes, videos?

Article Abstract:

McDonald's is experimenting with selling snacks, books, videos, clothing, and other items under its name or a 'Mc' variation, like McKids clothes. Initially, the company is likely to test the acceptance of new items outside of the U.S. This is one part of CEO Jack Greenberg's plan for expanding McDonald's business: the other two are: sell more burgers and diversify the chain's mix of restaurant offerings.

Arbitron tests meters to count radio audience

Article Abstract:

Arbitron Inc. is spending $100 million to replace their listerner diary system with "portable people meters" to determine radio ratings. The beeper units will measure radio broadcasts the listener hears as well as TV, cable and Web broadcasts over the course of a 6-month period. However, the giant Clear Channel Communications has said they won't renew their $28 million contract with Arbitron in a few major markets because it's old system was so antiquated and even wrong. The two companies are discussing their future.
