Article Abstract:

The Richards Group's first advertising camapign for AMF Bowling Worldwide features basketball star Michael Jordan. The TV spot, pushing bowling as a family sport, airs in three markets--Richmond, Va., Corpus Christi, Texas, and Kansas City, Mo.--where AMF has 20 of its 406 bowling centers. Richards will assess the campaign within the next six weeks before determining whether to expand it to other markets in 1999.

Thrifty Car Rental's $10 million review is going ahead as scheduled. The resignation of marketing, advertising and sales vice president Tom DeNardin and the withdrawal of one contender have not had an effect on the company's advertising management decisions. DeNardin's duties will be handled by president Donald Himelfarb.Yesawich, Pepperdine & Brown pulled out leaving three contenders for the review.

DaimlerChrysler, based in Auburn Hills MI and Stuttgart Germany, has announced a plan to consolidate its advertising activities. The Southfield MI office of Bozell Worldwide will handle the advertising business in Europe except for Germany. The German business will be handled by GFMO. PentaComm will have the North American business.
