Bowstreet speeds up Web-site customizing

Article Abstract:

Bowstreet Inc. is marketing its Business Web Factory software to smaller businesses looking to create customized Web sites. The software uses extensible markup language (XML), a programming language that not only determines how images and text are displayed on the Internet, but defines what type of objects are being shown, allowing users to link Web pages with other users and customers. Additionally, Bowstreet is developing a way by which Web sites can link with each other and exchange services.

Lottery operator Gtech wagers on some new markets

Article Abstract:

The CEO of Gtech Holdings Corp., William Y. O'Connor, would probably bet that his company can better handle credit card transactions, payment of utility bills and maybe even stock trading for less money than anyone else in the field, technologically speaking. With his network of 320,000 computerized betting terminals and all the expertise of transaction software that went into the business. Gtech handles lottery bets for 1.5 cents each, and debit card transaction for 25 cents. These would be good ways to diversify the business with the way the lottery market is flattening.
