Macquarie on a TV mission

Article Abstract:

The federal government is under pressure to grant license to another free to air television commercial. This will give a sigh of relief to Broadcast Australia and Macquarie bank that are in support of this idea. Broadcast Australia wants two digital channels broadcast nationally before it's three commercial free-to-air television licenses expire in 2006. For Macquarie Bank's subsidiary, Digital Forty Four Datacast is currently facing problems of "multichannelling," where it can offer several channels simultaneously but is banned from broadcasting sports and drama.

Connection failure

Article Abstract:

Australia is ranked 19th for the broadband services it offers by the Organization for Economical Co-operation and Development (OECD) for September 2002. Broadband connectively aims to aid Australia's economic growth and hence a slow take-up of broadband is of serious concern to business, as Australia is in need of a co-coordinating strategy.

Broadcast blues

Article Abstract:

The digital revolution, funded by the Australian taxpayers, is largely ignored. The free-to-air digital broadcasting is not appealing to the consumers, as it has to be viewed by using set-top box that costs 299 Dollars or more, beyond the improved signal for better television sets.
