Managing international development projects - lessons learned

Article Abstract:

Lessons learned in international development project management were discussed wherein international projects refer to government projects funded by institutions such as the Inter-American, Asian, African, and Caribbean Development Banks and the World Bank. Problems which occurred in some projects that made them difficult to manage were also determined and discussed. It was concluded that problems are very similar and that better management strategies have to be learned and applied relevantly to the context of each project.

Optimal resource allocation for projects

Article Abstract:

The question on how much staff is needed for a certain project could be enlightened by applying operations research methods to project resourcing. This has always been a concern in most information technology (IT) departments. Experience shows that an increase in the number of employees in an IT department does not benefit what is called development backlog. Development backlog is not even an advisable indicator of the need for more workers.
