Putting wind in your sales

Article Abstract:

Export-Import Bank of the United States (Eximbank) is a government agency that can help small businesses seeking to export goods or services by providing loan guarantees. Many banks are unwilling to grant loans for small-business exports because of the high risks involved. Eximbank has made changes to enable small businesses to obtain loan guarantees more quickly and taken steps to encourage banks to provide finance for small-business exports. Small businesses should also obtain new-to-export insurance to protect themselves from the risk of their overseas customers defaulting on the credit extended.

All in a day's work

Article Abstract:

Many small US companies are making the mistake of cutting support staff when they buy an office computer system, making it necessary for managers to undertake non-productive clerical tasks that should be performed by lower-paid workers. Office-productivity studies have shown that managers and professionals are spending more time on support tasks than on performing work at their level. By gaining employees' cooperation for the implementation of a system whereby members of staff all perform work at their own level, companies can improve office productivity significantly and allow managers to manage.

Responsibility reaps rewards

Article Abstract:

Increased corporate awareness of social problems can be harnessed to improve local conditions without jeopardizing profitability. This can be accomplished by developing a business with a social theme and inculcates it into the company and its employees, using corporate resources to improve the community and by finding some means of coordinating community requirements to fit business services. Case studies have shown that social change can be accomplished through private enterprise.
