Article Abstract:

Many manufacturers of hand-held data devices, like ImagiWorks Inc. and Symbol Technologies Inc., are marketing their devices to the education market. Hand-held computers can be used by students, faculty and school administrators and are much cheaper to buy than personal computers.

As Christmas approaches, parts shortages plague electronics makers

Article Abstract:

Makers of electronic gadgets and games are facing critical shortages of parts in their supply chains which is making them miss production deadlines. The shortage is an international phenomenom which makes it difficult to find alternative suppliers around the globe. The shortage of flash memory chips has resulted in a doubling in their price, which will raise costs for component makers. The prospects for this problem to hurt profits is already being felt by declining stock prices.

Apple seeks new image as producer of 'killer apps'

Article Abstract:

On the eve of their first loss in 12 quarters, Apple Computer Inc. is refocusing away from competing with Windows and Intel's microprocessor toward marketing applications that are easy to use and irresistible to customers that want to supplement those other companies' products. Founder Steve Jobs plans for more advertising of the G$ Cube and iMovie. Apple wants to expand its 28% of sales from new customers. New software applications will be introduced within 6 months indicating the company's new focus away from just hardware.
