Secondary markets stir

Article Abstract:

Secondary stock markets of Australia are now becoming the most sort after venues for fledgling companies that want to gain access to capital, set a market value for their shares and overcome some restrictions with regard to ownership which is hard to overlook on Australian Stock Exchange listing rules. One such exchange the companies prefer is the Newcastle Stock Exchange, which lists companies in three categories, cooperatives or other companies with limited ownership structures, small resources and exploration companies and small establishment businesses requiring capital.

Article Abstract:

Investment industry experts Hugh Dougherty of Merrill Lynch and Company Inc., Sakthi Siva of Ord Minnett, and Ken Lamden of Schroder Investment Management have chosen the stock portfolios they think will perform best in a changing investment environment. Dougherty chose Merrill Lynch's Evergreen Portfolio for companies with a strong balance sheet and a sound investment brand. Siva's portfolio has a strong leaning toward resource stocks. Lambden prefers stocks with good fundamentals that may have fallen from favor in the short term.
