The role of management scholarship in the public sector: Using the commentaries to move forward

Article Abstract:

The points on which commentators agreed and disagreed in the public affairs forum 'Making Public Schools Work: Management Reform as the Key' are summarized and integrated so that there is a clear understanding of the processes, benefits and obstacles associated with management scholars having a greater impact than that prevails. The commentators differed on things as whether greater involvement was needed specifically in the public sector and whether mattering more might be pursued individually or collectively.

Determinants of risky decision-making behavior: a test of the mediating role of risk perceptions and propensity

Article Abstract:

The reported research examined the usefulness of placing risk propensity and risk perception in a more central role in models of risky decision making than has been done previously. Specifically, this article reports on two studies that examined a model in which risk propensity and risk perception mediate the effects of problem framing and outcome history on risky decision-making behavior. Implications of the pattern of results for future research are discussed. (Reprinted by permission of the publisher.)
