A flexible concept for decision support: evaluation and selection of suitable product development activities

Article Abstract:

A flexible decision support system (DSS) for problems concerning product development was developed for the comparative evaluation and selection of product development activities. The flexible DSS was based on the rationality postulates of decision theory to ensure the rationality of the decision process without neglecting the practical applicability of the DSS. Furthermore, the design-related aspects of the flexible DSS can be utilized as a basis for dealing with initially outlined Simultaneous Engineering-specific problems.

Equivalences between data envelopment analysis and the theory of redundancy in linear systems

Article Abstract:

The use of data envelopment analysis and redundancy in linear inequalities shows that the formulation of an empirical efficient production frontier from the point of view of polyhedral set theory can yield connections. The study yields insights into the understanding of how the Charnes, Cooper and Rhodes 'constant returns' model is related to the linear programming formulation. The study also reveals insights into the geometry of the polyhedral set formulation and the correspondence of redundant sets.

Measuring ecological efficiency with data envelopment analysis (DEA)

Article Abstract:

Research is presented concerning the benefits which business enterprises can gain from the use of ecological efficiency as a measure of environmental management. The application of data envelopment analysis to this measurement is discussed.
