A transformed two-stage method for reducing the part-usage variation and a comparison of the product-level and part-level solutions in sequencing mixed-model assembly lines

Article Abstract:

Research is presented concerning the development of algorithms which allow for the minimization of two-stage variation in a problem which involves mixed-model sequencing. The benefits for part-level usage are discussed.

Some new results on simulated annealing applied to the job shop scheduling problem

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze heuristic solutions to the job shop scheduling problem. The convergence of simulated annealing was not supported in the scheduling problem. A novel approach was developed to determine a solution to the scheduling concern. It integrated an adaptive temperature control that accommodated a time-oriented crossover of schedules. Results indicated that the approach can effectively solve the job shop scheduling problem.
