AUSTRIA: ACQUISITIONS BY CYBERTRON

Article Abstract:

Cybertron Telekom AG is expanding business in the Austrian state of Burgenland by acquisitions. The company has bought a 51% stake in the glass fibre network operator Well.COM Datahighway Burgenland and a 25.1% stake in the broadband cable network of the cable TV company BKF (Burgenlandisches Kabelfernsehen). Through the 630-km glass fibre network of Well.COM, Cybertron hopes to enter also eastern European markets. The network has already been linked with the network of Hungarian Matav. To old and new cable subscribers of BKF, Cybertron wants to offer internet and telephone connections via cables.

Article Abstract:

The Austrian telecoms company CyberTron is expanding as a comprehensive service supplier by taking over 51% of the stock of the Krenn company that sells and installs telephone exchanges and networks. In the financial year to 31 March 2000 Krenn made an operating profit of Sch 2.7mn on a turnover of Sch 17.6mn.
