AUSTRIA: BERGLANDMILCH'S GROWTH TARGETS

Article Abstract:

In 2001 Austria's largest dairy, Berglandmilch aims to reach a turnover of Sch 8bn, up from Sch 7.42bn in 2000, when pre-tax profit fell by almost a half to Sch 26.9mn. The decline is attributed to the closing of the Desserta factory in Graz. After having raised milk prices paid to farmers four times since the beginning of 2001, Berglandmilch now pays prices that match those of German dairies. At the beginning of 2001 about 200 Austrian farmers had cancelled their contracts with Berglandmilch and moved to German dairies. On 1 July 2001 Berglandmilch will be raising prices for milk and dairy products by up to 10%.

Austria: Growth for NOM in 1st half 2001

Article Abstract:

In the first half of 2001 the Austrian dairy group NOM saw a 18% increase in group turnover to Sch 2.02bn. Profit on ordinary activities rose from Sch 25.7mn to Sch 39.2mn.
