AUSTRIA: STRONG GROWTH IN ADVERTISING

Article Abstract:

On the basis of figures for January-November, Focus Media Research estimates advertising expenditure in Austria to grow 14.5% to Sch 25.46bn in 1999, following a 10% increase in 1998. This is the steepest growth rate for 16 years. As a result of a poll among 250 marketing directors, Focus predicts advertising spending in Austria to grow 4.8% in real terms in year 2000.

AUSTRIA: STRONG GROWTH IN ADVERTISING MARKET

Article Abstract:

Figures by Focus Marketing Research suggest that spending on advertising in conventional media in Austria will increase by 9.4% to Sch 27.98bn in year 2000, compared with 15% in 1999. The forecast is based on the first 11 months of the year. Daily papers account for 29.2% of the total, other printed media 24.4%, television 23.6%, radio 7.7%, brochures 6.8% and posters 5.5%. Spending on internet advertising, at Sch 93mn, accounts for 0.33% of overall advertising expenditure. Advertising spending corresponds to 0.99% of Austria's gross domestic product, compared with 0.94% in 1999.

Denmark: Commercial advertising growth drops

Article Abstract:

According to the annual study by the trade organisation for the commercial advertising industry in Denmark only advertising in specialist press and on exhibitions shows higher figures for expected use in 2002 than last year. Expectations for commercial advertising on TV drops by 4% while expectations for advertising in the daily press only decreases by 2%. The expected comeback of large scale growth in Internet advertising has not yet occurred.
