The Austrian Salzburg-based brewery Stiegl raised its market share in year 2000. In the food retail trade, the company holds 10% of the Austrian market. Stiegl increased beer sales by 2.4% to 747,955 hl. Turnover amounted to Sch 1.46bn.

The Austrian Vorchdorf-based brewery Eggenberg is to launch a new premium beer by the end of year 2000. In 1999 the company sold 153,000 hl of beer (up 0.5%) and generated a turnover of just under Sch 180mn.
