AUSTRIA: GROWTH FOR TETRA PAK IN 2000

Article Abstract:

Tetra Pak reports a record sales volume in Austria in 2000, at 612mn packaging units. Turnover increased 10% to Sch 853mn. The growth is attributed largely to large packaging units. Tetra Pak, which gained an approval for its PET bottle with an interior lining for beer in Austria in year 2000, reports a trend in the Austrian beverage market towards PET in single-portion packs and towards cartons in larger packaging sizes. It remains open when the PET beer bottle will be introduced in Austria. Tetra Pak sees chances in the event catering sector rather than in the food retail trade.
