AUSTRIA: MOBILE PHONE OPERATORS IN COURT DISPUTE

Article Abstract:

Mobilkom and Max.mobil have sued One at Vienna Trade Court. The two mobile phone operators, which have a market share of just under 78% between them, want an interim injunction in order to force one to stop its All in One package. They also claim damages of Sch 500,000. In the All in One package introduced by One in May 2000, all phone calls to all networks within Austria cost Sch 1 per minute day and night. Mobilkom and Max.mobil are accusing One of selling below cost price. One holds 20% of the Austrian mobile phone market.

AUSTRIA: MOBILE PHONE PENETRATION TO INCREASE

Article Abstract:

There are about 2.4mn mobile phone users in Austria. Penetration has reached 30% and is expected to grow further to 50% by 2000, according to Lothar Roitner from the Austrian association of alternative telecommunications providers. The alternative telecoms operators are to invest Sch 25bn in 1999. A combined turnover of Sch 14.8bn is expected for the year.
