United's merger with US Airways faces new delay

United Airlines' planned acquisition of US Airways Group is not expected to be completed by early April 2001. The merger is being probed for antitrust issues by the US Department of Justice.

US Airways, America West near deal

Article Abstract:

US Airways Inc. and America West Holdings Corp. are close to announcing a merger and are hoping to raise as much as $400 million from potential equity investors. The airlines are also in advanced negotiations with Airbus S.A.S. in a deal that would see the French aircraft manufacturer provide them with a loan of $250 million in exchange for an order of roughly 20 A350 jetliners.
