Another stage of the construction of the second railway corridor is completed

Article Abstract:

Tchas (Ostrava, Czech Republic), construction firm, completed the modernization of the railway section Hustenovice-Otrokovice, Czech Republic, in Jan 2001. The main aim of the modernization of the section, which is a part of the second railway corridor in the Czech Republic, was to create technical conditions for the expected train speed of 160 km per hour on the line. About 28 km of rails were renovated, 38 points were installed, 15 bridges were reconstructed and about 150,000 cu mt of soil was moved away within all the construction. The costs on the construction of all the second corridor will be nearly CEK 36.5 bil.

Article Abstract:

Metrostav (Prague, Czech Republic), construction firm, goes on expanding in 2000. The firm saw outputs of 7.1 bil Kc in 1999, 23% more compared to 1998. It increased its outputs in spite of a 6.5% decrease in the volume of Czech civil engineering in 1999 compared to 1998. The growth of Metrostav's turnover is influenced by the firm's diversification. About 50% of the firm's turnover are represented by contracts for private investors. In 2000 Metrostav is building a tunnel for a high-speed railway line in Germany, a highway tunnel in Slovakia and a road tunnel in Prague-Mrazovka, the Czech Republic.

Vodni Stavby in liquidation

Article Abstract:

Vodni stavby (VS) (Prague, Czech Republic), construction firm, is under liquidation. In 1999 the company saw outputs of CEK 4 bil and was the fifth largest construction firm in the Czech Republic. In 2001 the firm went into liquidation. The firm's current contracts will be completed during the liquidation. The setting up of new companies according to the specialization of individual divisions cannot be excluded. The company has a stock of CEK 1.08 bil.
