Asia speaks up on the Web: providers tap distaste of U.S. biases on Internet

Article Abstract:

Several Asian entrepreneurs are now setting up their own Internet sites to compete with dominant US-based companies. The sites use Asian languages and are more culturally inclined toward Asian interests. The increase in more Asian Internet sites has made Internet users based outside the US has equalled the 112 million users in the US in 1998 for the first time. The company forecasts that by year 2002, only 30% of the expected 467 million users around the globe will be US-based.
