Austria: Federal government to trade airports

Article Abstract:

It is almost certain that Austrian airports in Klagenfurt, Salzburg and Graz will be privatised. An exchange is taking place, whereby the minister of finance is able to transfer federal shares to the individual provinces in return for their shares, the total of which is Sch 509mn in Osag (Austrian motorway company) and Asfinag (Motorway financing). This means that the provinces can secure the airports without the threat of the airports being bought by other companies. In the province of Steiermark, the airport shares are to be sold, with Sch 200mn of the Sch 350mn expected selling price to be spent on the new art house. The Formula 1 company in Zeltweg will receive the rest for its maintenance.
