BA will cover new ground in U.S. after Open Skies: Heathrow-Texas loop to help beef up roster; U.K.'s runway fight

Article Abstract:

British Airways PLC has announced increased service to the US under the Open Skies trans-Atlantic treaty. BA will move its flights to Dallas and Houston, Texas, from Gatwick Airport to Heathrow Airport in London, and increase the number of flights to Washington, New York, and Seattle. The Open Skies treaty enables any European airline to provide service to any US destination beginning in April 2008.

Opening up of trans-Atlantic skies may squeeze carriers

Article Abstract:

North American airlines are creating more frequent Trans-Atlantic flights, that could lower airfares. Major European airlines have seen healthy revenue this year but the increased competition could cut into profits. The "Open Skies" agreement between the United States and the European Union lessens regulation and will open up the market even further.

Europe airlines post strong July results

Article Abstract:

European airlines have posted increased passenger traffic and increased load factors for July. Air France-KLM of France reported a 4.9 percent increase in passenger traffic, easyJet of the United Kingdom an increase by 11 percent and British Airways of the United Kingdom an increase by 4.4 percent.
