BAT to buy remaining stake in Imasco

Article Abstract:

British American Tobacco PLC (BAT) has reached an agreement to purchase the 58% of Imasco Ltd. that it does not already own. BAT will acquire the remaining share for 4.2 billion pound sterling (6.35 billion euros). Imasco is a diversified holding firm based in Canada. It has primary interests in the tobacco, financial services, retailing, and property development industries.

Lasmo to buy Monument for $965.6 million in stock

Article Abstract:

Lasmo PLC has reached an agreement to purchase Monument Oil & Gas PLC for shares worth 600 million pound sterling ($965.6 million). Lasmo is an independent oil firm based in Great Britain. The deal follows Lasmo's decision to withdraw from the 3 billion pound sterling merger negotiations with Enterprise Oil PLC, a rival firm. Monument is a smaller independent oil company.

GKN, Brambles decide it's time for a merger

Brambles Industries Ltd. will merge with a spinned off company from GKN PLC. The new company will be called Brambles Industries PLC in the UK, and Brambles Industries Ltd. in Australia.
