Basketball guru spreads fever across Asia

Article Abstract:

Asian Basketball Confederation Promotions CEO and Pres. Tom McCarthy is committed to promoting the sport throughout the region. Helped by the popularity of US superstars, basketball has made great strides in several Asian countries. McCarthy believes that that Asians have a future in the sport because of the region's huge pool of talent. He is confident that powerhouse Asian teams such as China and South Korea can easily beat Western players.

U.S. sluggers rally support for baseball in Asia

Article Abstract:

American major league players Frank Thomas and Cecil Fielder have been conducting baseball clinics across Asia. They are teaching ways on how to make baseball more competitive and exciting. This means changing the Asian approach to a patient and defensive game. Their trip to Hong Kong was made to promote the game amongst children and young adults. Baseball is relatively unknown in Hong Kong as compared to basketball.

Chang is a smash on and off court in Asia

Tennis star Michael Chang is probably the most popular professional athlete in Asia. When making personal appearances or simply strolling in places such as Hong Kong and Singapore, Chang is always besieged by admirers saying hello or asking for his autograph. Unlike other high-profile athletes, Chang is genuinely modest and unassuming, qualities which have endeared him not only to his fans but to advertisers as well.
