Bidders pitch for KL International Airport

Article Abstract:

There have been 13 bids for the second part of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) project, which is the design and construction of the satellite building of the main passenger terminal. A consoritum consisting of United Engineers (M) Bhd, Ho Huo Construction Sch Bhd, Takenaka Corp, Permodalan Negeri Selangor Bhd, Mitsui Co and Sato Corp, submitted a very low bid, and the highest bid was submitted by a consortium including Binaan, Setegao Sch Bhd and Konsortium Citra Kontraktor Nusantara.

Birmingham Airport's new flight path

Article Abstract:

A 40% stake in Birmingham International Airport has been purchased by Irish airport operator Aer Rianta and NatWest Ventures for $68 million. This airport is the 16th in the UK to receive private financing, while 14 large airports remain in the private sector. It is now planned to boost the airport's capacity to 9 million passengers over the next 10 years. It handled 5.4 million passengers in 1996. It is expected to receive investment of around $421 million.

Malaysia's biggest offer

Article Abstract:

The privatization of Malaysia's Petronas Gas is set for September 1995. Petronas, a subsidiary of the state-owned oil company, will sell around 450 million shares, worth some $1.22 billion. Around 17 million shares will be offered at a fixed price to the Malaysian public. The company's turnover in the FY ending March 1995 was RM909 million.
