British Biotech sues ex-employee, charging breach of confidentiality

Article Abstract:

British Biotech PLC has filed a lawsuit against its former clinical-trials head, Andrew Millar, who was charged with violating his employment contract. Millar, who was recently removed from his position in British Biotech, allegedly breached the confidentiality clause of his contract with the firm when he publicly declared concerns about the company's Zacutex treatment for pancreatitis. Millar also allegedly gave researchers access on information regarding the patients who took Zacutex.

BBL increases its provisions for debt in Asia

Article Abstract:

Banque Bruxelles Lambert (BBL) announced that it increased its provisions against outstanding Asia loans. The bank increased its provisions to 1.5 billion Belgian francs ($41.4 million) for the first six months of 1998. This represented an increase of approximately 900 million francs. BBL stated that 2% of its foreign loans are located in Asian "problem nations." These countries include Indonesia, Thailand, South Korea, and the Philippines.

Clearstream expand to Mexico as part of push into equities
