C.E.O. bonuses rose 46.4 percent at 100 big firms in 2004

Chief Executive Officers bonuses are up by 46.4 percent to a median of $1.14 million, this is the largest percentage increase and highest level in the past 5 years. There is rising criticism of what some see as excessive compensation, particularly in cases where the companies performance doesn't keep pace.

Coke directors agree to give up pay if company misses earnings goals

Coca-Cola Co. of the United States is planning to eliminate executive pay if financial targets are not met. The controversial plan in the past has had a tendency for executives to focus more on short-term gains and may be linked to fraud scandals as it compromises independence.
