Article Abstract:
The Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA), which has 38 member institutions representing more than 44,000 architects worldwide, places strong emphasis on finding ways of using its professional networks and a common system of education and modern information technology to maximum effect. Modern information technology, which is inexpensive and easy to use, plays a key role in this work. Current projects include the Habitat Challenge, an educational scheme using modern technology to circulate projects and questions connected with the Habitat Agenda.

Article Abstract:
Recent moves in Saudi Arabia to transfer power from King Fahd, whose health is failing, to his half-brother, Prince Abdullah, have served to emphasise the extremely strong influence held by Saudi Arabia, both in the Middle East and in the rest of the world. Saudi Arabia ignores human rights and international standards of justice, but the west has allowed its regime to continue. This is because of its role in promoting 'Islam,' its position in the Arabia peninsula and the Persian Gulf and its extensive oil reserves.
