DENMARK: DEREGULATION WILL MAKE GAS PRICES FALL

Article Abstract:

Future deregulation of the Danish gas marked will make gas prices fall by at least 20%, says Peter Hansen-Nord, spokesman of Vestre, the Danish Liberal Party. He says the Party will request that the Government speeds up the deregulation process. The present plan is not sufficiently ambitious, according to Peter Hansen-Nord. He expects that the major advantage of a deregulated market will be reduced prices of gas transports. At present, the Danish gas pipeline network is 100% owned by the Government through the company Dangas.

DENMARK: RAISED PAPER PRICES AFFECT NEWSPAPERS

Article Abstract:

The European newsprint consumption has grown, which in turn has put pressure on the supply and resulted in a 10% increase in prices. This means increased costs of DKr80-100mn (US$10-12.5mn) for Danish papers. Even mergers between companies within the paper industry are said to have put pressure on prices.
