DENMARK: PRICES OF RURAL HOUSES ARE FALLING

Article Abstract:

Prices of houses in rural districts in Denmark haven fallen constantly in the past few years, and rock-bottom is not yet considered reached. In 1999, prices in rural municipalities in Jutland and Funen decreased by 10-15%. At the same time, house prices in areas close to Copenhagen increased by 20%. Price per square metre varies from DKr 15,000 (USD 2,000) in the municipality of Sollerod to DKr 3,400 in municipalities in northern, western and southern Jutland and on minor islands.

Denmark: Govt to back out of housing subsidy plans

Article Abstract:

The Danish housing minister Lotte Bundsgaard wants to re-negotiate the housing subsidy offer to municipalities as a result of new regulations for municipalities regarding the financing of housing construction. Anker Boye, head of the National Association of Local Authorities in Denmark, says he is surprised at the minister's statement.
