Developing economies: definitions, theories and issues

Article Abstract:

The Human Development Index, which looks at life expectancy, standards of living and literacy rates, and the Human Poverty Index give a clearer picture of the level of development in developing countries rather than comparing GNP between the developing and the developed nations. It is necessary for countries to experience economic growth to improve their standard of living. Most economic theorists point to the need for investment and saving to stimulate the economy. The developing nations require investment from foreign nations as they are unable to use domestic savings.
